39 Arrested In Wee Ghettos

 

THIRTY NINE suspects, including seven teenagers, have been arrested in known wee ghettos during a four-hour police swoop in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The unannounced police operation was conducted concurrently in Mamponteng, Fawoade, Aboaso, New Asonomaso, Ntonso and Meduma on September 14, 2024.

The police found substances, believed to be narcotics, on some of the suspects. The arrested persons would be screened and those found culpable would be dealt with.

The security agents undertook the successful swoop to help clamp down on the use and peddling of narcotic substances in the area, thereby reducing crime rate.

The Mamponteng District Police report gave the names of the teenagers as Morgan Osei Kuffour, 17, Adu Gyamfi Gerald, 18 and Agyemang Godfred, who is 18 years old.

The police also mentioned names of the remaining teenagers as Daniel Osei Owusu, 18, Ramsey Opoku, 19, Abubakar Sadick, 18 and Ampofo Kennedy, 17.

The other suspects are Kwadwo Inusah, 31, Dominic Yamoah, 26, Isaac Adu, 44, Samuel Owusu, 32, Ebenezer Osei, 26, Emmanuel Gyamfi, 27 and Adu Joseph, 56.

Also in police grip are Antwi Kankam George, 25, Akwasi Kagya, 22, Kwaku Owusu, 24, Lukasha Nuhu, 25, Kizito Mohammed, 32, Yussif Mohammed, 27 and Nti Benjamin, 38.

Some of the suspects are Akwasi Ofosu, 32, Emmanuel Gaevor, 28, Abdul Aziz Manaf, 33, Nyarko Prince, 25, Kenneth Agyemang, 28 and Augustine Opoku 25.

Harunor Daniel, 20, Majid Mohammad, 25, Osman Dibah, 24, Boakye Samuel, 26, Adu Frank, 41, Akwasi Boakye, 22, Kwadwo Boakye, 20, Kwaku Duah 61 and Kwadwo Osei, 23, have also been nabbed.

The police statement, which has been sighted by the DAILY GUIDE, mentioned the remaining suspects as Akwasi Yeboah, 29, Christian Oduro, 20 and Douglas Osei, 23.

It said, “Exhibits found on some of the suspects include two partly smoked substances suspected to be Indian hemp, a knife, a pair of scissors, three lighters and seven boxes of matches”.

The report added, “Three small rubber sachets, containing dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a sachets of Tramadol tablets and three brown paper wrap of substances suspected to be Indian hemp were also found”.

“Five boxes of cigarette, two sticks of cigarette, and 11 pieces of condensed milk toffee suspected to have been laced with Indian hemp were also retrieved”, the report indicated.

All the 39 suspects, the police statement disclosed “are currently in police custody and will be screened. Those who will be found culpable will be put before court”.
