Alex Owusu, Wadoski, Justice Peter Afful and Obeng Manu
FOUR PEOPLE are currently in the grips of the Koforidua police in the Eastern Region for allegedly stealing the yet-to-be-completed Voters’ Register (Album) belonging to the New Juaben South Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The suspects are Obeng Manu, the Constituency Organiser; Alex Owusu aka Gunta; a guy whose name was only given as Wadoski and Justice Peter Afful aka Oboo Yankee.
However, two other persons whose names were only given as Tanko and Mafia, believed to be involved in the ‘raid’ are currently at large.
Chief Supt. Cosmos Alan Anyan, the New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, who briefed DAILY GUIDE on the purported incident, said one Pius Tevi, 27, from Anlo Town, a suburb of Koforidua – also a polling station executive of the NPP – accompanied by Isaac Adjabeng, the Constituency Secretary, reported that at about 12.10 am, four men wielding dangerous implements, forcibly opened the door to the secretary’s room..
According to Chief Supt. Anyan, the suspects allegedly attacked Pius Tevi, tied him up, blindfolded him and took away 2 mobile phones, envelopes containing the albums and other documents meant for the impending constituency elections.
“They also made away with unspecified amount of money and a bag containing personal belongings and other vital documents,” the police chief narrated.
He said further that a tip-off later led to the arrest of Alex Owusu, 32, and upon a search, one of the stolen mobile phones was retrieved.
Chief Supt Anyan said Alex Owusu then mentioned the names of his accomplices as Tanko and Mafia, who are at large, but Wadoski was subsequently arrested from his hideout.
“In his caution statement, Alex Owusu mentioned the names of Obeng Manu, constituency Organiser of NPP, and Justice Peter Afful aka Oboo Yankee, as those that contracted them to execute that assignment of carting away the constituency electoral materials,” the police officer averred.
He further stated that the suspects charged GH¢1,000 and a part payment of GH¢400 was made to them, adding that during interrogation, Wadoski corroborated the evidence of Alex Owusu.
