4 Women, 4 Men Nabbed In Nkawie Ganja Bust

Four women have been arrested by the police on suspicion of possessing and peddling Indian hemp, popularly known as ‘ganja’ or ‘wee’ on the streets.

The suspects, who are currently in police custody, have been identified as Ama Serwaa, 55; Taminu Mohamed, 47; Juliet Obeng, 41; and Latifa Fuseini, 23.

According to a statement from the Nkawie Divisional Police Command, the four were among eight suspects arrested during a recent police swoop at known drug-peddling spots in Nkawie.

The four men arrested during the same operation are Kwodjo Frimpong, 22; Emmanuel (surname withheld), 25; Kutumshaana Samuel, 27; and Nicholas (surname withheld), 24.

The police report stated: “On 04/07/2025, at about 13:40 hours, OPS men led by Chief Inspector Richard Amankwaa Fuso embarked on a swoop at some drug-peddling spots in Nkawie.”

According to the police, various substances believed to be narcotics were found on the suspects at the time of their arrest in some known ghettos in the area.

“Eight (8) suspects were arrested with wrapped leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, Tramadol, and some other prohibited substances,” the report further stated.

The police noted that the operation was aimed at curbing the use and sale of narcotics in Nkawie and its surrounding communities. All eight suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
