Delta Force group
The Police have preferred charges against five members of the Delta Force, a vigilante group in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
They are Kwadwo Fosu aka ‘Bamba’, Awal Sadat Abubaker, Abubaker Sadiq Abdul Hamed, Jamil Issah and Hamza Mohammed.
They have been charged with conspiracy to assault and assaulting a public officer and causing unlawful damage.
This was contained in a new release written by ASP Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO).
The police, however, did not state which court the five suspects would be sent to face prosecution.
Abubakar Sadiq Abdul Hameed, Jamil Issah and Hamza Mohammed, voluntarily reported themselves to the police, the statement indicated.
The regional police command urged other suspects to also report themselves, warning that the police would not tolerate acts of lawlessness and hooliganism in the region.
Members of the Delta Force openly manhandled George Adjei, the Ashanti Regional Security Liaison Officer on Friday.
The vigilante group opposes Mr. Adjei’s appointment and so they allegedly forcibly dragged him from his office in the presence of armed police men.
The incident, captured on video, has since gone viral on social media, attracting wide condemnation.
