Tamale Gears Up …For Stars-Cranes Clash

It has emerged from up north, Tamale, venue for the Ghana-Uganda World Cup qualifier that the indigenes are bracing up for tomorrow’s Group D fixture.

The host city have not watched the Stars play since they last clashed with Togo prior to the last African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea about two years ago.

Indeed, the long break seem to have accounted for the hanker for the game which offers the Stars an opportunity to exorcise the recent Uganda ghost.

From motor bike riders (Okada), commercial drivers to the corporate community, indications are that a chunk of them have pledged their support by patronizing the game.

The Tamale fans gave a foretaste of their pledge and commitment to the Stars support when the team arrived yesterday in the morning.

The Stars, led by Asamoah Gyan landed in the northern regional capital sure of making a good start of their World Cup campaign by winning convincingly.

They trained yesterday in the afternoon and are expected to do same this afternoon.

The Ghana Football Association has arranged for the team to pay courtesy calls on the Gulkpe-Naa and the Dakpema, the Paramount Chief and Chief of Tamale respectively, at their palaces.
