Most Rev. Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum
The Catholic Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum has rebuked politicians over what he calls increasing political intolerance which is gradually corroding the democratic feat of the country.
Bishop Afrifa-Agyekum, concerned over the recent development of violent attacks recorded in some parts of the Country ahead of the December polls, counseled politicians to understand that seeking political power must be done in an honest and peaceful manner.
According to him, if politicians deem political power as power to selflessly serve the country, there would be no room for violence.
The Catholic Bishop said this when addressing Catholic faithfuls of the Koforidua Deanery at the Eastern regional capital on Sunday.
Most Rev. Afrifah-Agyekum added that “politicians have been campaigning to seek the mandate of the electorates in the December 7 elections, I hope they do so in the spirit of service to the nation necessary for prosperity, peace and religious development.”
He asked all seeking political positions to be guided by the selfless leadership qualities exhibited by Jesus Christ who used his authority to serve the poor and needy.
