Gideon Aryeequaye speaking
Gideon Aryeequaye, acting Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has stated that plans are underway to introduce the single window system to migrate every actor in the tourism industry onto the ‘one-stop shop’ platform.
This, according to him, would boost promotion and marketing which would ensure the growth of the industry.
Mr. Aryeequaye, who was speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting recently, said the tourism single window system would give the country a competitive edge over other tourism-oriented countries on the continent.
“We are starting this initiative immediately; the Authority has already given out the contract. The system will advertise every tourism actor still doing business in the country.
“It will give vivid information about climatic conditions at the various destinations and traffic situations there, as well as where to catch a bus or airline to these places,” he said.
Mr. Aryeequaye urged the players in the private sector to take advantage of the enormous economic opportunities in the tourism industry, stating that “the private sector should be able to appreciate the number of tourism sites across the country and build the required facilities there to make them more attractive to tourists.”
