Freddy Meiway To Perform @ EMY Awards

Legendary Ivorian musician, Freddy Meiway, has been invited to perform at this year’s edition of the Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Awards.

The second edition of the EMYs is slated for Saturday, June 24 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra.

Freddy Meiway, who is best known for his Zoblazo dance moves which made waves in Ghana in the 90s, is ready to put up historic live musical performance at the event.

Real name, Frederic Desire Ehui, Meiway is credited for pioneering the famous Zoblazo dance when he released his debut ‘Ayibebou’ album in 1989 with his group, Zo Gang.

Other albums he has to his credit are ‘200% Zoblazo’, ‘Hold Up’, among others.

His musical career which has span over two decades has earned him reputable awards, including a Best Regional Artist Award at the first annual African Music Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1996.

Notable performers who have in the past graced the stage of the African Legends Night are Hugh Masekela, Femi Kuti, Steve Bedi and Ben Brako.

According to the organisers of the event, this year’s edition will also feature an incredible line-up of artistes, including Efya, Irene Logan, The Patch Bay Band, among others.

The event will be filled with immeasurable anticipation and the audience is promised nothing but the very best of music and entertainment, all on one stage.

The EMY Awards is aimed at celebrating men whose passion and commitment had rolled out major landmarks in the progress and development of the country.

At last year’s event, renowned Ghanaian businessman, consultant and politician, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, was adjudged the ultimate man of the year.
