2 Students Crushed To Death

Two students of Ofaakor Senior High School (SHS), near Kasoa, have died in an accident on the Kasoa-Obom Highway.

The two male students, believed to be about 18 years, were travelling on a motorbike when a Kia truck with registration number GW-3268-17 fatally crushed into them.

Joseph Akrashie, Unit Committee Chairman for Domiabra –Obom Constituency, who witnessed the accident, said the students were on their way to school around 6:40am yesterday when the incident occurred.

The driver of the Kia truck was heading towards the Central Region from the Accra direction.

According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the motorbike.

The driver of the truck, after killing the children, sped off in an attempt to escape, but Kasoa Police personnel on duty apprehended him and took him to the police station.

“It was a serious and very gory accident. Women could not even watch their lifeless bodies, as they lay on the side of the road.

The accident caused huge vehicular traffic and so we quickly called on the Amanfrom District Police to the scene to pick the bodies from the scene,” he narrated.

The Amanfrom District Police Commander DSP Daniel Dzaka, when contacted, said the bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

He confirmed that the driver was arrested by the Kasoa Police after he attempted to escape, but investigators in charge of the case are preparing to go for him to assist in investigations.

The school authorities have also been asked to help the police contact the family.
