President Akufo-Addo
President Akufo-Addo has called on all Ghanaians to put their hands on deck to give him and his government the needed support to lift the country from the doldrums.
He is convinced that the work on hand is enormous and will therefore need the collective effort of all and sundry to deliver.
“We need your support and unity of purpose to be able to do all we want to do,” he entreated when he had the honour of addressing leadership and members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) yesterday on the occasion of their 100 years’ anniversary celebration.
“I first came to ask you to give me the opportunity to come and fix the country and you gave me the privilege to become the president and it is not by might but by the mercies of God that made it happen; when I was making the promises, some said I was lying to Ghanaians, I couldn’t do it; I was making them because I was looking for votes, but we have started delivering those promises,” he recounted.
He talked about the fact that the ‘Free Senior High School’ policy has come to stay to ensure that every Ghanaian gets the opportunity to at least attain secondary education.
That, he said, is because education is the key to development.
“I’ve said it and I will say it here again today; we are not poor; Ghanaians are not poor and Ghana is not a poor country; what are left are good leadership, good policies and weed out corruption so that we can use the proceeds of our wealth to develop our country,” he emphasized.
Head of the CAC, Apostle Ntow Amoaning, commended the president and his government for the way they have started work.
“I have no doubt that the good Lord who has begun a good thing through you, will surely bring it to a successful end and as Ghanaians, we should also learn to forgive and love one another irrespective of our religious, ethnic and political persuasion for the country to stay united and progressive,” he prayed.
To Christians, he had this to say, “We should endeavour to abide by the teachings of Christ and live a life of integrity, sanctity and holiness devoid of rancour and strife.
We are expected to be the salt and light of this world as the scripture says.”
Apostle Ntow Amoaning charged the pastors, “Eschew monetizing the word of God, inordinate materialism and insatiable desire for money and power; let us also reexamine our ways of life and ministry and rededicate ourselves to much more prayer and care for the flock.”
