Mad Rush For Police Forms

The youth queuing outside the bank

Banking halls and frontages of various branches of the GCB Bank were flooded on Monday with young men and women who formed long queues to purchase forms for recruitment into the Ghana Police Service.

In Cape Coast, the officials provided the applicants with shelter due to the scorching sun.

One Joseph Abban, who said he had been in the queue for almost three hours, expressed the hope that he would be served by the bank officials before the close of the day.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE in Cape Coast, a 25-year-old Isaac Ankroh from Ajumako in the Central Region, said he first went to the Cape Coast Main Branch but was scared by the large number of people there and rushed to another branch in the area.

“I am very sure that I would be served in an hour’s time so that I would have the opportunity to gain admission to the police training school to help maintain law and order,” one Benjamin Owusu added.

Efforts by DAILY GUIDE to speak to officials of GCB proved futile, as they were not ready to comment on the issue.
