Three Nissan pick-ups belonging to the Brong Ahafo Regional Directorate of the National Identification Authority (NIA) have been left to rot at the office.
One of the NIA drivers said though the vehicles are roadworthy, they had been parked in the open due to inactivity of the authority in region.
The batteries and tyres of the vehicle are deteriorating due to the development.
This came to light when DAILY GUIDE went to the authority to assess the situation after President Akufo-Addo re-launched the Ghana Card in Accra.
The driver, Seidu Asuma was sleeping in a dirty room without light when the paper got to the office.
Seidu Asuma told DAILY GUIDE that they virtually do nothing at the office every day.
According to him, there are five staff at the office, including the regional director, Bernard Koma, who is on study leave abroad.
“Since then nobody has been brought to replace him,” he said.
“The rest of us come to office and do nothing and go back home. We heard that they are training technicians at the headquarters but there nothing is happening here. We have just parked the cars and any time we want to use them we borrow batteries from others to start them. The three Nissan pickups with the registration numbers GV 694-14, GT 928 Z and GT 1213-Z have been parked for several months in front of the office and are deteriorating.”
