Thrills At Binatone Cup

The winning team poses with dignitaries and the ultimate trophy.

This year’s Binatone Challenge Cup for Skate Soccer, produced champions in Accra Giants who produced a stellar showing at the Accra Stadium on Saturday.

The Accra- based side thumbed their Kumasi counterparts-Ashanti Warriors 4-1 in a thrilling encounter.

But it was the capital club’s captain, Gariba Sani, whose brilliance impacted on the game resulting in his second half hat-trick, with Hammah scoring from the spot to complete the rout.

The Accra Giants skipper ignited applause from the massive fans from the stands with his aggressive runs and touches with his hands.

Abdul Rahman managed a consolation and all their efforts to reduce the deficit proved unsuccessful.

GOC president, Ben Nunoo-Mensah lauded the organizers, International Federation for Skate Soccer (IFSS), and headline sponsor, Binatone Electronics, for providing the platform for the physically challenged.

Ashanti Warriors’ Rafiu emerged as the Best goalkeeper, Issah of Accra Giants took home the Best Defender prize, Warriors’ Gibril was crowned the overall best player, while skilful Gariba picked the top scorer’s prize.

Western Tigers recorded a 1-0 win over Zongo Lions   to take the third position prize.

Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Sunil, Group MD of Binatone and HE Birendar Singh Yader, Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, graced the event.

The challenge Cup was supported by Diamond Cement, Zenith Bank, Auto Plaza,Vitabiotics,Jumia,B5 Plus, Afriglobal Group .
