I Love Courtroom Drama -KSM

Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) has announced a new courtroom drama series titled ‘Odo Wahala’, and he has been speaking about the inspiration behind it.

According to him, he is fond of activities in the courtroom and that is the reason behind the new series which will hit the screens very soon.

The new series, which will be strictly electronic court (e-Court) proceedings, is the first of its kind in Ghana and a twist from the usual courtroom dramas on TV.

With this, neither the defendant nor the plaintiff is required to be physically present in the courtroom. All the judge does is sit in the courtroom and then connects to the defendant and the plaintiff who are at different locations.

It was unveiled on Thursday to a section of the Ghanaian media at a special screening ceremony at Sapphire at East Legon, Accra.

“I like courtroom drama and I have done a few. I started the first courtroom drama on TV in Ghana called ‘Divorced Court’ in the late 90s and then I came up with ‘Hot Bench’. I like courtroom action. This time when I want to come up with something I realised that there is ‘Ahenfie Court’ on UTV, there is ‘Kejetia Verses Makola’ on Joy Prime and it’s all about the regular court court so I said let me structure it differently so that it is not the same court room stuff so that where ever you are you can appear on the screen. So that is just something to make it standout of the rest of the courtroom dramas present on our TVs,” KSM told NEWS-ONE.

The series will deal specifically with conflict in relationships. In a vintage KSM approach, very serious issues are laced with measured humour to give it a unique and understated educational relevance. It is an exceptional blend of Twi and English (about 75 percent Twi and 25 percent English).

The role of the judge is executed with watertight dexterity by Yaa Anima Misa Gyampo. Her control of the ‘courtroom’, driven by her no-nonsense attitude, combined with her use of innovative technologies to reach her clients as long as they exist on this earth distinguishes ‘Odo  Wahala’ from all other court drama series currently running on  TV.
