Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana with Salifu Saeed and REGSEC in Tamale
The Regent of Bimbilla and President of the Nanumba Traditional Council, Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana, has praised the Northern Regional Minister and the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for their efforts in ensuring peace and stability at Bimbilla and the Nanumba Traditional Area.
The regent was full of praise for the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed, for his efforts in finding a lasting solution to the 15 years old chieftaincy crisis in the traditional area.
Referring to the scars of history, Naa Yakubu Andani said the past 15 years had been the darkest days in the history of the Nanum Kingdom – a history which must not be allowed to repeat itself no matter what.
He therefore called on the good people of Bimbilla and the Nanum Traditional Kingdom to adhere to the ruling and verdict of the Supreme Court to promote peace and stability in the catchment area.
Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister and the REGSEC to present to them the verdict of the Supreme Court.
The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed said his outfit would still collaborate with the traditional council to ensure full implementation of the Supreme Court verdict and also liaise with the regional and national security apparatus to ensure security in the area.
He indicated that the attention of his office had been drawn to the lack of logistics for the security personnel in the area, making the discharge of their duties almost impossible.
The minister gave an assurance that he would see to it that the security agencies in the area are resourced with the necessary logistics to ensure rule of law and promote security and stability in the area.
He further added that plans are underway to review the curfew situation in the area, and called on the regent, elders and opinion leaders in the area to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure peace and stability under which the curfew can be reviewed and possibly lifted.
