A MOTHER, whose name was only given asĀ  Abena, lost her seven-month pregnancy in a taxi when she was referred from a health facility in the Dormaa East District to the Ansuaa Ababio Pediatric Centre of the Presbyterian Hospital at Dormaa Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region due to lack of ambulance.

In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, a pediatrician – Dr. Adomaa – who happens to be the founder of Kidsā€™ Ambulance Organization stated that the baby was dead when the woman arrived at the facility.

She said: ā€œWe encounter a lot of such cases of premature babies dying before they reach our hospital; the pregnant women mostly arrive in taxis or sometimes on motorbikes making them bleed excessively, thereby losing their babies.ā€

She said due to the bad situation, she was personally appealing to friends and philanthropists to help acquire kidsā€™ ambulance for the hospital to serve the region, adding that ā€œsince we launched the kidsā€™ ambulance on 9th October, three babies have died due to lack of ambulance at the facilityā€.

ā€œAs a country, we need more ambulances to help transport our vulnerable children safely; we need ambulances for the kids to save their lives. We are again pleading with the government and non-governmental organizations to come to our aid,ā€ she pleaded.
