The Nigeria Football Supporters Club has been launched in a ceremony at the Kotobabi Wembley Park in Accra.
It primarily seeks to provide support for Nigeria football national teams during tournaments in Ghana and elsewhere.
The chapter consists of Nigeria nationals based in Ghana who have love and passion for football and wish to join the club.
It also seeks to prove to all football supporters worldwide the need for peace, unity and harmony before during and after football matches, as well as create awareness about the upcoming fundraising for the purchase of a luxury mini-bus for the Nigeria Supporters Club Ghana chapter.
Dr. Rafiu Oladipo, president general of Nigeria Football Supporters Club worldwide and the president of All African Supporters Union, said the game is for the supporters and the fans to enjoy.
“Footballers can come in their numbers to the field but without supporters is like drinking tea without sugar or milk,” he indicated.
Dr. Oladipo expressed optimism that the match would be held annually to help improve the healthy relationship between Ghana and Nigeria and project the two African countries across Africa and worldwide.
The Ghana National Supporters Union and the Nigeria Football Supporters Club opened the Ghana chapter with a football match between their supporters.
Team Nigeria supporters emerged winners of the match after beating their Ghanaian counterparts 4-2 to lift the trophy at stake.
