Regional winners in this year’s Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Ghana’s Fastest Human, will battle for supremacy in the final event scheduled for the Baba Yara Stadium this Saturday, under floodlights, 5pm to 8pm.
The Baba Yara meet, to be competed under floodlights will draw the fastest 250 males and females in the Country in the U-10, U-15 and U-18 and senior categories for both male and female.
Africa Games 400metres bronze medalists, Grace Obuor, who won the overall 2018 Ghana’s Fastest Human U-18 title is expected to cross swords with Kate Agyeman, the fastest local lady (Regional), who would also be defending her senior Ghana’s Fastest Human title she won last year.
In the senior men’s division, Africa U-20 and ECOWAS Gold medalist in the 100 & 200 meters respectively, Edwin Gadayi will battle pre race favorite and fastest local man Benjamin Azamati, who won gold, running the 2nd leg in the 4×100 relay for Ghana at the just ended All Africa games in Morocco.
Founder of the GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human, Reks Brobby said “We are ready, so are the athletes, we a expecting a good and very competitive final.”
At stake are medals, certificates and products from the sponsors of the competition.
It is being sponsored by GNPC, with support from Adidas, Moringa King, GCB, Wrenco Printing, Kriate Lync, Indomie Instant Noodles, Pipa’s Gym and Global Media Alliance.
The GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human is a seven-year athletics program aimed at reviving athletics (Short distance) running in schools.
