Clever Baby Thief Caged 6 Years

A 45 YEAR old woman has been sentenced for six years, whilst her daughter has been granted bail for their involvement in the stealing of a baby in Kumasi.

The Kumasi Circuit Court found Theresa Asamoah guilty for stealing a new born baby at the Kumasi South Government Hospital.

However, the convict’s daughter, Priscilla Appiah, 21, who pleaded not guilty in court, was granted a whopping GH¢100,000 bail with three sureties to be justified.

The mother and daughter, according to the prosecutor, connived and tricked a heavily pregnant head porter called Sylvia Pime into believing that they were helping her but stole her new born baby, right after delivery.

Theresa Asamoah, who was staying with the head porter, reportedly pretended to be pregnant when she realized that the head porter was pregnant and would deliver soon.

The head porter, the prosecutor said, safely delivered on June 10, 2019 at the Kumasi South Government Hospital but Theresa Asamoah told her the baby had died.

The mother and daughter then sacked Sylvia Pime from their house. Theresa Asamoah then took the baby home and informed her husband that she had delivered.

Sylvia Pime, who was made to believe that her daughter had died two years ago, travelled to Nandom, her hometown, only to return to Kumasi two years to see her baby alive and reported the case to the police.
