Samira Joins Amma Busia @ 85

Madam Amma Busia and Hajia Samira Bawumia and others during the function

Second Lady Samira Bawumia was among the many dignitaries who joined Madam Amma Busia to mark her 85th birthday at her Abelenkpe residence in Accra last Friday.

It was an occasion which had pastors taking turns to glorify the name of God for how far he has brought the former Council of State member and elder of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

As the Methodist hymns were sang, the celebrant joined to give the occasion a vocal touch.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his spouse have been consistent over the years with their presence during Madam Amma Busia’s birthdays. The presence of Hajia Samira was exhilarating, the smiles and colour which she brought to the venue relished by the many guests at the occasion.

Madam Amma Busia’s residence, almost an appendage of the party, is a location where aggrieved party persons turn to for succor and mitigating intervention.

One of her admirers said of her, “She has time for everybody and would listen to your pain and thereafter offer a solution through soothing words and intervention. I cannot but join her at an occasion like this.”

Among the long list of attendees were Madam Faustina Nelson, Hackman Owusu Agyeman, Prof Ameyaw Ekumfi, Stephen Ntim, Peter Mac Manu, Cecilia Dapaah and Moses Baiden among others.

Mrs. Suzy Quartey, a retired banker of ECOBANK and long-standing friend of Madam Amma Busia was also available to join in the celebration.

Madam Amma Busia is a sister of the late former Prime Minister K.A. Busia, one of Ghana’s celebrated academics and politician who stood up against a creeping dictatorship in the country.

One of the pastors could not remember what the venerable lady went through in life when he recalled what she endured when a coup took place in the country at a time she lived at the Castle.
