Kennedy Agyapong
Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has declared war on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for its intention to destroy his two major businesses; the steel plant and the cold storage business.
Kennedy Agyapong who spoke with Sompa FM in Kumasi, lamented the actions of the authority describing it as “Witch-Haunting” indicating that “ the authority has currently deployed personnel to his cold stores to monitor how much revenue he makes daily”.
He opined that the authority cannot under any circumstances use the system to intimidate him. “I have opened businesses across the last five presidents and never went through this frustration and harassment.
GRA can never collapse my business but I am bent on fighting them. Am fighting not because of myself but for the youth. My businesses are incomes for many youths in the country and won’t stand aloof for them to crash everything that I have built to support the over 1000 youth workers earning salaries because of my business” he revealed.
Mr. Agyepong also threatened to expose alleged corrupt dealing at the GRA “Whether they are auditing, whether they are collapsing the business, I swear to God, Ghana Revenue Authority can never collapse my business because I will fight and expose them as well…”
COLLAPSE NPP
Mr. Agyapong who doubles as a contender for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) attributed the infamous actions by the authority to his intention to lead the party as the presidential candidate for the election 2024.
He alleged that some party gurus are the masterminds behind GRA’s quest to intimidate and frustrate his business and destroy his political ambitions to lead the party in the election 2024.
Mr. Agyapong stressed that over the years, a lot of attempts have been made to demoralize him but has resisted, adding, I will reveal secrets that will lead to the end of the party if they make any attempt to collapse my businesses.
“I am being nice and charitable to NPP (members), they shouldn’t dare me, they shouldn’t dare me,”.
“…I will finish the party, the things I will say. The things I know that I have kept quiet” he said.
GHANA CARD CI BOGUS
Mr. Agyapong subsequently described the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to introduce the Constitutional Instrument (CI) that seeks to make the Ghana Card the only document for voter registration as bogus and lack merit.
We have a whole Ghana passport, but you (EC) claim that to register to vote you can’t use it to register as a voter. What makes me know that I am a Ghanaian? It is my passport”, he said.
Mr. Agyapong vehemently opposed the CI saying, I am against it. Ghana has people taking bogus decisions.
