Addo-Kufuor Adds Value To KsTU Graduates

Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor

Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor has taken his Midas Touch to the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) where he is the Chancellor.

The appointing authorities appear to have longed for the man known for his achievements wherever he has served as head, to change the fortunes of the KsTU.

Indeed he has. A few years after assuming the headship of the KTU, he has brought innovations which are setting the institution apart from others in their bracket.

The former MP for Manhyia Constituency in Kumasi assumed the chancellorship of the KsTU in September 2022, and since then the path towards imparting the technical skills to products of the technical university has been on a consistent move.

In the field of Information Technology, an area in which the Chancellor is passionate about, he has established a prize for students who excel.

With his personal funding and the support of the CEO of Angel Group of Companies, the initiative has witnessed a phenomenal obsession among IT students.

One of the areas in which the initiatives of the Chancellor is showing promise is in the area of jewellery; and what a place to do this than the region of gold, Ashanti Region.

Dr. Addo-Kufuor has linked up with a leading jewellery workshop in the region, the Agyaba Jewellery Workshop.

The company has established a workshop for the KsTU on its Adako-Jachie Campus where hands-on training is offered students. This way, they are ready for the market upon completion of their studies.

What better testimonies about the inroads being made by the Addo-Kufuor initiatives than those rendered by the University’s Relations Officer Dr. Charles Obeng Sarpong who said, “Dr. Addo-Kufuor’s vision for a jewellery workshop and showroom is gaining momentum.”

“This initiative underscores Dr. Addo-Kufuor’s dedication to providing hands-on training opportunities for students,” he added.

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the KsTU and some industries to allow students to undertake industrial training at such places.

Recently, a call was made for such arrangements for students in tertiary establishments in the country.

A leading cocoa processing establishment is one of the partners in this industrial training arrangement, and this is expected to open the minds of students to the many value chain opportunities in the cocoa industry.

Someone who has followed Dr. Addo-Kufuor’s successes from his leadership in the Ghana Medical Association to his management of the Defence portfolio as Minister but who preferred anonymity remarked, “KsTU will witness a phenomenal rise in her fortunes with this man’s chancellorship of the tertiary institution.”

He is credited with the construction of the Jubilee House, seat of government, accommodation for the military and great developments at the 37 Military Hospital among many feats.
