John Mahama
Former President John Mahama has launched a scathing attack on the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of their manifesto launch, slated for August 18 in Takoradi, Western region.
Mr Mahama, who led the country from 2012 to 2017, described the NPP’s upcoming manifesto as a “Book of Lies.”
Speaking at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Manifesto Launch, Mahama questioned the NPP’s ability to deliver on their promises, citing their eight-year tenure in office.
“Anything the NPP proposes today could have been done in the past eight years,” Mahama said, implying that the ruling party has had ample time to implement its policies.
The NDC Flagbearer comments come as the NPP prepares to unveil their manifesto, which is expected to outline their vision and plans for the country’s future.
However, the former President’s remarks suggest that the NPP’s proposals may be nothing more than empty promises.
The NPP’s manifesto launch, scheduled for August 18, in Tarkoradi will be led by Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The event is expected to be a significant milestone in the run-up to the general elections.
In a seeming reference to his past manifesto promises, Mr Mahama acknowledged that his administration had fallen short in some areas.
However, he maintained that his party’s commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians remained unwavering.
The exchange has set the stage for a heated political season, with both parties engaging in a war of words over their respective manifestos.
