Sarkodie
Celebrated Ghanaian hip-hop artiste, Sarkodie, is scheduled to perform at this year’s Taabea Ghana Music Awards (GMA-UK) on October 19, slated to take place at the Grand Sapphire Hotel in Croydon, UK.
The event, which is being held in collaboration with West Coast and Alordia Promotion, is intended to honour and recognise Ghanaian music industry stakeholders both domestically and abroad who have made significant contributions to the growth of the sector.
The finest musicians from Ghana and beyond, along with key figures in the creative sector, will unite on one stage to honour Ghanaian music in front of music enthusiasts.
Sarkodie, the headline act, will take the stage with a few other carefully chosen performers to excite music lovers with nonstop performances throughout the evening.
Known for a number of successful songs, Sarkodie is also anticipated to delight fans with hits like “You Go Kill”, “Adonai”, “Year of Return”, and “Anadwo”, among others.
Alongside Sarkodie, highlife star Ofori Amponsah, Barosky, Kofi Nti, Joseph Matthew as well as gospel superstar Esther Smith will perform at the event.
To keep the audience entertained, reggae/dancehall musician Epixode, Charles Kalah, Alice McKenzie, Kofi Badd, Theo Vesachi, Kimilist and Star Vicy will also perform at the event.
One of Ghana’s finest veteran female acts, Akosua Agyapong, has also been invited to perform at the awards ceremony, according to BEATWAVES sources.
The organisers have promised Ghanaians that this year’s edition of the event would be a memorable one for patrons and music lovers across Europe.
Some of the awards categories include Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Music Producer of the Year, Best Rapper of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year, Highlife Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, among others.
