Donald Trump Sues Media Houses Over Bad Press

Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, has unleashed a wave of lawsuits against major media outlets and publishers, alleging widespread bias and defamation.

The New York Times and Penguin Random House are facing a whopping $10 billion lawsuit, newsaccusing them of publishing defamatory material that constitutes “industrial-scale libel”.

The lawsuit specifically targets articles and a book critical of Trump, titled “Lucky Loser:

How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success,” written by journalists Peter Baker, Michael S. Schmidt, Susanne Craig, and Russ Buettner.

Donald Trump’s team argues that the reporting deliberately disparages his business legacy and political ambitions.

But that’s not all – Trump’s team has also filed lawsuits against other prominent outlets, including CBS News, The Daily Beast, and The Washington Post.

CBS News is accused of election interference for allegedly editing an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on 60 Minutes, while The Daily Beast is targeted over an error in reporting campaign fundraising figures.

However, Media advocacy groups are sounding the alarm, condemning the lawsuits as an assault on press freedom.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) describes Trump’s actions as a “clear and direct danger to media freedom,” while Reporters Without Borders calls on the incoming administration to foster a more supportive environment for journalists.

This isn’t Trump’s first rodeo with the media.

He has long branded the press as “the enemy of the people” and has intensified his rhetoric since winning re-election.

In his victory speech, he described media outlets as the “enemy camp,” fueling concerns over the future of journalistic independence.
