How time flies! A few years ago now Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was a ranking member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament.
During the period, he did a lot of things towards casting the then ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in bad light.
That was not all. He did other things which sought to present himself as a man of principles.
He went the extra mile to produce documents and videos to prove his points, but whether these actually gave the needed leverage to his propaganda is something the public can form their opinion on.
Indeed, nature and time have a way of exposing hypocrites. Today, the same man who shouted on rooftops about political moralities which, in his estimation, were absent in the Akufo-Addo government, has been exposed in a manner which has left him naked.
No wonder yesterday many newspapers devoted their front pages to this exposure.
One of the campaigns of the then ranking member was to question why government officials of the stature of the President or the Vice President would travel abroad for medical treatment via private jets.
He did not stop there but furthered his position by vowing to resign his appointment should the President or his Vice President under a National Democratic Congress (NDC) government travel abroad for medical treatment using private jets.
A few days ago, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang returned from a medical trip abroad using a private jet, the cost of which is huge.
Ghanaians at this time are waiting for the Foreign Minister to make good his promise of resigning. What a way to put to the test the integrity of a man whose high pitched so-called morality noise on the public space became not only irritating but provocative.
We can bet the Foreign Affairs Minister does not possess strength or principles to resign his appointment. His boss, the President, cannot order him to do so because theirs is a club of inconsistencies and propaganda.
Ghanaians have witnessed enough of the lies of the NDC whose campaign trail was littered with all manner of propaganda.
The then President Akufo-Addo was said by Okudzeto Ablakwa to have travelled on an aircraft which was a penthouse in the sky.
Irresponsible vituperations have consequences which are what have befallen the Foreign Affairs Minister.
We dare the Foreign Affairs Minister to open up to Ghanaians and tell them why he is unable to resign, as he promised he would should an NDC Vice President travel on a private jet.
Ordinarily, we would not have commented on this subject because, after all, the President or the Vice President should be accorded special treatment when they are traveling, especially on a medical mission. Unfortunately, however, the NDC whose obsession with politicising everything in this country did not spare then Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, their acerbic tongues wagging when he travelled abroad for medical attention.
All fingers are crossed as we await the Foreign Affairs Minister’s resignation, because the Vice President travelled for medical attention via a luxurious private jet, a five-star flying hotel and returned via same vessel.
