I Saw Ghosts In EOCO Detention –Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has disclosed that he nearly died when he was recently detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra.

According to Chairman Wontumi, he continuously dreamt and saw some of his dead relatives in the night, which was a signal to him that he was rapidly nearing his death, noting that his time in EOCO detention was a horrible experience.

The Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman stated that he was held in a tiny room, which made the movement of his body virtually impossible, adding that he suffered at the hands of EOCO.

“I have realised and now believe the popular belief that when someone is about to die, he/she sees death coming gradually. I felt that experience at EOCO detention. Everything in me pointed to the fact that I was dying slowly,” he bemoaned.

Chairman Wontumi was addressing delegates and supporters at Adansi Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, which was the first day of former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.

Wontumi, who sounded emotional during his speech, indicated that the conditions in the EOCO facility are so inhumane, but he was put there to experience it for some days before being eventually granted bail.

According to the outspoken Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, his brief incarceration at EOCO should motivate the party’s members and supporters about the need to work hard and recapture political power in 2028.

Wontumi, without mincing words, stated emphatically that Dr. Bawumia remains the perfect choice to lead the NPP to recapture political power in 2028, and entreated the party’s delegates to vote massively for him.

“Ghanaians rise up, Ghanaians rise up, it’s because of you that Dr. Mahamudu is working assiduously to lead the NPP to recapture political power and lead the country into affluence,” he stated.

Ghanaians, he said, would definitely give their mandate to Dr. Bawumia in 2028, reiterating his appeal to the NPP delegates, who are the kingmakers in the party, to vote for the former Vice President.

Meanwhile, former NPP Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond, has also openly declared his unflinching support for Dr. Bawumia to lead the NPP, saying that “Dr. Bawumia can lead us to political victory.”
