Kingston Open To Ghana Under Right Conditions

Laryea Kingston

Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has expressed his willingness to return to serve Ghana in a coaching capacity, but insists it must be under the right working conditions.

Kingston was appointed head coach of the Black Starlets in April 2024, tasked with leading the team at the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship hosted by Ghana.

However, his stint ended on a disappointing note after a 2-1 semi-final loss to Burkina Faso denied the hosts a place in the final.

In a move that surprised many, the former Hearts of Oak winger resigned from his post shortly after the defeat.

Since his departure, Kingston has continued his coaching journey abroad, working in the United States before taking up his current role as head coach of all Uganda’s junior national teams.

Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Kingston made it clear that he remains committed to Ghana and is ready to serve again if called upon, but only in a supportive and professional environment.

“I’m a Ghanaian, and anytime the opportunity comes to coach any national team, I will. If the environment is conducive for me, I’ll take the offer,” he said.

His comments leave the door open for a potential return to Ghana’s national teams in the future, should the right conditions be put in place.
