The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has joined the nation in mourning the tragic deaths of the Defence Minister, Environment Minister, and six others who perished in Wednesday’s helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
Describing the incident as “a national loss beyond measure,” the party said the untimely deaths of these dedicated public servants have left a deep wound in the heart of the Republic.
In a solemn press release signed by General Secretary, Jerry Owusu, the LPG extended its deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and urged Ghanaians to come together in mourning and reflection.
“The Honourable Minister for Defence, Edward Omane Boamah, was not only a steward of our national security but also a symbol of courage, integrity, and tireless public service,” the statement read.
The party emphasised that the memories and legacies of those who died would be “forever etched into the fabric of our history.”
The LPG called on Ghanaians to honour the departed not just with words but by upholding the values of duty, sacrifice, and patriotism for which they stood.
“Let us unite in mourning and in prayer. May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may God grant strength and comfort to their families and our beloved nation,” the statement concluded.
The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District, claimed the lives of eight individuals, including key government officials and military personnel. Investigations into the cause of the crash are currently underway.
