Oguashia Oduro-Panin Brikrong
The Edubiase Traditional Council has officially destooled the chief of Abadwam, Nana Amoako Tuffour I, for alleged gross disrespect and insubordination towards the traditional council and his kingmakers.
Oguashia Oduro-Panin Brikrong, the Edubiasehene, cited several reasons for the destoolment, including failure to answer calls and invitations, and refusal to attend important meetings.
Specifically, Oguashia Oduro-Panin Brikrong mentioned that Nana Amoako Tuffour I failed to attend the significant Akwasidae ceremony at Manhyia, which was one of the several important meetings he snubbed.
Addressing the media at his palace, the Edubiasehene also alleged that Nana Amoako Tuffour I had been on a destoolment spree, removing sub-chiefs who disagreed with him, including the queen mother of Abadwam.
He expressed disappointment in Nana Amoako Tuffour I, who was enstooled in 2021, saying he had failed to live up to expectations and had shown gross disrespect to the traditional council.
However, some members of the Oyoko royal family at Abadwam have rejected the destoolment, claiming that Nana Amoako Tuffour I had done nothing wrong and was only resisting corruption and forced acquisition of Abadwam’s properties.
The matter has sparked controversy, with some residents of Abadwam arguing that only Otumfuo Osei Tutu II can destool the Abadwamhene.
But the Edubiase Traditional Council has ruled that any sub-chief destooled by the Abadwam chief should be reinstated, and those enstooled by him should cease to hold themselves as sub-chiefs.
