ABL contributes to GJA awards

Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) has presented GH¢30,000 and assorted products valued at GH¢4,000 as their contribution towards this year’s Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) scheduled for August 27.

Corporate Communications Manager of ABL, Joyce Ahiadorme, presenting the package to some executives of the GJA in Accra recently, commended journalists for their dedication towards peace in the country and said they have contributed to the creation of an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Acknowledging the role of the media in the sustenance of businesses, she commented, ‘‘your willingness to shine the light on ABL’s brands and corporate activities has supported our existence these 85 years. I urge you to continue to use your reportage to protect the peace that the nation enjoys so ABL can continue to work unceasingly to refresh, bring sociability, and contribute to the economic growth of Ghana for the next 85 years and beyond.”

ABL, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary,has contributed to numerous activities in Ghana including capacity development of journalists. The brewery had over the years contributed more than GH¢ 300,000 to the GJA through it’s annual support for the GJA Awards as well as the World Press Freedom Day.

Commenting on the goodwill gesture of the brewery, the President of the GJA, Affail Monney said companies like ABL have been the backbones of the nation’s economic gains directly through their operations and through their value chains.

‘The GJA is grateful to ABL for its nine years’ consecutive sponsorship of the Best Reporter in Arts and Entertainment category of the GJA Awards. Your continuous refreshment and cash donations in support of the awards demonstrate a commitment towards the development of the media and the business environment and the nation as a whole. As journalists, we will reciprocate this gesture through our coverage of the election in a manner that will promote peace and an environment for businesses such as yours to thrive”, he concluded.
