Accept Election Results… Chief Tells Mahama

President Mahama paying homage to the Dompoasehene, Okofo Sobin Kan II

THE CHIEF of Dompoase, Okofo Sobin Kan II, has urged President Mahama to accept the outcome of the 2016 presidential elections, whether win or lose to ensure peace.

He recounted that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court over the 2012 election petition which ensured peace.

The Dompoase traditional leader stated that he was expecting President Mahama to also accept the results of the upcoming presidential elections, whether it goes his (Mahama) way or not.

“In 2012 Nana Akufo-Addo accepted the results when the Supreme Court ruled against the NPP when they contested the results of the 2012 polls, and I am expecting you to do same whether the 2016 polls goes your way or not”.

Okofo Sobin Kan II was speaking during a colourful durbar at Apagya in the New Edubiase Constituency of the Ashanti Region when President Mahama visited the area as part of his four-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region.

The Dompoase chief said there is only one Ghana which Ghanaians could refer to as home therefore all and sundry, especially politicians, should play leading roles to make the 2016 elections peaceful.

Okofo Sobin Kan II also entreated the citizenry to stay away from all violent acts that have the potential of disturbing the peace of the state, indicating that the country needs peace to develop.

He commended President Mahama and his administration for bringing several developmental projects to New Edubiase and the surrounding areas, which had helped bettered the lives of the citizenry.

The Dompoase chief particularly heaped praises on the president for ensuring that New Edubiase and the surrounding areas, which is a major cocoa growing area, benefitted from the Cocoa Roads Project.

Okofo Sobin Kan II, however, appealed passionately to the President to make sure that all other ongoing developmental projects in the area are completed on time to transform the lives of the people.
