Accra Friendship Club Supports Mamobi Hospital

The Accra Friendship Club, a keep fit group for businessmen in Accra, has presented safety items to the Mamobi General Hospital.

The gesture was to help the facility deal efficiently and effectively with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Items valued at GH ¢50,000 such as 30 gallons each of rubbing alcohol, liquid soap and hand sanitizers; 10 boxes of hand gloves, 30 Veronica buckets, 17 bales of hand tissues and 20 bales of toilet tissues were donated.

Club Chairman Paa Gyimah Genfi, who was accompanied by Vice Chairman Osei Brobbey and Nana Bediako (a patron), presented the items which was received by the Deputy Chief Accountant, Inusah Dan Fodio, on behalf of the hospital.

Mr. Genfi encouraged philanthropists to place  priority on helping health facilities in deprived communities which tend to be over looked as far as choosing facilities for donations was concerned.

He also encouraged members of the club to stay active and not allow the ban on gathering and observance of social distancing protocol due to deter them from staying healthy.

The Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) at the hospital, Elizabeth Lamptey, expressed worry over the increasing number of visitors who throng to the facility to pay a visit to their sick relatives during the COVID-19 period.

“We have adopted certain measures which ensure that patients who visit the out-patient department (OPD) before getting admitted are tested in order to protect other patients and staff of the hospital,” she said.

She expressed gratitude to the club, among other individuals and groups such as the Zongo Development Fund and the wife of the Vice-President, Samira Bawumia, for their support which has improved operational efficiency at the hospital.
