Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), a pressure group, has called on Ghanaians to support President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to build a robust economy.
AFAG, in its congratulatory message to Nana Addo for emerging victorious in the December 7 polls, said that “Ghanaians should be careful not to be used by any group of individuals to undermine or stampede the incoming government’s efforts.”
It stressed that “we also caution Civil Servants with vested interest not to attempt to sabotage.”
AFAG’s Expectations
“AFAG congratulates the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his election victory. Mr President-elect, AFAG’s expectations from your administration, which begins from 7th January, 2017, are enormous,” the statement signed by AFAG leadership indicated.
It said “it is our hope that you put this nation back onto the path of progress.”
These issues include but not limited to the following: building a robust economy to provide employment across the country for our teeming youth. An economy that will enable individuals to develop the skills that businesses are currently lacking and at the same time reduce unemployment which would in turn increase wellbeing and help reduce social and economic deprivation, AFAG added.
Touching on the elections, AFAG said, “Ghana has once again demonstrated to the world our resolve to embrace democratic processes and successfully conduct regular free, fair and successive elections. Since the birth of the 4th Republic in 1992, many Ghanaians have performed their constitutionally mandated responsibility and right of participating in the political system that in turn protects our rights and freedoms by voting and electing their leaders.
“Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) genuinely commends His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for his contribution to the nation. To quote the words of Max De Pree “the first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant.” Thank you Mr. President.”
