The organisers of the annual music festival dubbed “Afro Nation Ghana 2020” aimed at celebrating Afrobeats, hip-hop, Ghana Rap, reggae, and dancehall, have canceled this year’s event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The organisers of the event considered the current circumstances regarding the pandemic and its devastating effects on life, health, the economy and all sectors.
BEATWAVES gathered that the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic will endanger the lives of music fans who will take part in the music festival, as they will not be able to practice the social distancing measure put in place to prevent the spread of the virus.
In a press statement, the organisers said they had been in talks with authorities and partners to decide how this year’s event will go amid the virus.
However, considering the effects of coronavirus around the globe, they have decided it is safer to cancel the event this year, adding that the event will be rescheduled to 2021.
Afro Nation is one of the biggest concerts held in December and it brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate music and the end of year holidays in style.
Last year’s event attracted over 20,000 music lovers and festival-goers to the Laboma Beach Resort on December 27 to celebrate different music genres at the Afro Nation festival.
The previous events featured acts such as Stonebwoy, Wizkid, Davido, Shatta Wale, and Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Teni, Becca, Kuami Eugene, Kofi Kinaata, KiDi, Naira Marley, Zlatan, The Compozers among others.
