Akosua Adjepong
The case of fraudulence against celebrated Ghanaian musician, Akosua Adjepong, has taken a new twist as her accuser has instituted a civil suit against her at the high court.
Ms Akosua Adjepong and one Frank Agyemang Badu, a building contractor, have been accused of collecting GH¢105,000.00 from one Jonas Asamoah under the pretext of providing him with a parcel of land.
They however, failed to provide proper documentations on the land and had allegedly been avoiding the complainant.
The two are currently before an Accra circuit court where they are facing conspiracy to commit crime and fraudulent transaction of land charges.
Although the outcome of the case has not been determined yet, the complainant has taken another step by filing a writ against Akosua Adjepong and Frank Agyemang Badu at the high court.
In his statement of claim, Mr. Asamoah, a car dealer, states that he wanted a parcel of land and approached Akosua Adjepong who had one at Tuba, near Kasoa in the Central Region.
He said Akosua wanted to give the land for lease but he (Asamoah) wanted an outright purchase and so she introduced him to Frank, who claimed to be having one plot of land opposite the West Hills Mall in Accra for sale.
He claims that he made a part payment of GH¢105,000.00 on separate occasions to the two (Akosua and Agyemang Badu) and later gave a Rav4 vehicle to Frank for another plot of land.
He however, could not work on the land as another person had claimed ownership of it and warned him (Asamoah) to stay away from it.
He said he reported the matter to the police and the vehicle had since been retrieved for him
Mr. Asamoah therefore, wants the recovery of the GH¢105,000.00 being the total amount he gave out to Ms. Akosua and Agyemang as part payment for the plot of land.
He is also asking for interests on the stated amount, from January 31, 2017 at the prevailing bank rates.
Peter Asante-Acquah, lawyer for the complainant, filed an application for direction and B.T. Agble, who is representing the two accused persons, told the court that he just received the application and was yet to study it.
He therefore, prayed the court to adjourn the case so that he coud properly respond to it.
The case has been adjourned to May 28, 2018.
