All Set For Vigilantism-Free Games

The United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Ghana, Khalifa Al- Zaabi, has appealed to Ghanaians not to allow political vigilantism to affect the democratic credentials of the country. 

Speaking in a ceremony to endorse the ‘No to Political Vigilantism’ an initiative of the Football for Humanity  to draw the attention of Ghanaians to the potential pitfalls of vigilantism, said Ghana has won a reputation as a land of peace and stability.

He has, as a result, called on Ghanaians to uphold such an international dignity of the country by avoiding violence and campaign for peace and unity.

The program is using football to create the awareness and calling for the total disbandment of identified political vigilante groups.

The C.E.O of the Humanity Magazine, Yahaya Alhassan, revealed that during the Justice Emile Short Commission hearing of the Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election violence, most of those involved are youth from Zongo communities.

He said “When you observe the trend of the vigilantism across the regions, they are mostly Muslim youth who allow themselves to be used by politicians against their opponents.”

The Humanity Magazine boss appealed to the youth not to risk their precious lives for any politician for what he called ‘the politics of tokenism’ to the people of Zongo.

He indicated that, his outfit is putting together a unity match at the Kotobabi Wembley Sports Complex aimed at fostering oneness among  the Zongo youth across the political divide against the menace of vigilantism.

He called for education among the Muslim youth to enable them actively and positively participate in the nation building.
