A 33-year-old aluminium fabricator who allegedly broke into the residence of an Indian national and reportedly stole a flat screen television set and other personal belongings has been arrested at Teshie Bush Road,.
The suspect, Rashid Kabiru Aremeyaw aka Kubi, was reportedly apprehended in the act when a neighbour was said to have spotted him scaling the wall of the victim to the house.
He was about carrying the television set away when the police pounced on him.
The Teshie District Police Commander, Superintendent Peter Yembillah who briefed DAILY GUIDE, said the suspect committed the act on December 20, 2016 at about 10:00 am.
The Indian lives with his two other brothers but the brothers, according to information, travelled last week to India for a marriage ceremony.
On Tuesday the victim locked the doors to the house and left for work as usual.
Kabiru Aremeyaw allegedly took advantage of his absence, scaled his wall and entered the compound. Using a pinch bar, he purportedly broke into the room using the back door.
A neigbour who spotted him scaling the wall immediately reported the matter to the police.
Before the arrival of the police the suspect had ransacked the rooms, taken two mobile phones before removing the 32-inche flat screen television fixed on the wall.
He then reportedly used a sack to cover the TV set and was about carrying it out of the hall when the police stormed the house.
Upon seeing the police, Kabiru Aremeyaw abandoned the gadget and took to his heels but he was given a hot chase and nabbed.
The matter is still under investigation, according to the police.
