‘Appiah Stadium Staged Arson’

A Kumasi-based serial caller of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Frank Kwaku Appiah aka Appiah Stadium, has been accused of faking the alleged arson in his house on December 10, 2017.

A member of a group calling itself Critical Thinkers International (CTI), Adiepena Mirekua-Akwaa, accused the noisy foul-mouthed man of dramatizing a supposed fire outbreak that was said to have caused damage to the rear part of his black Toyota Rav 4 vehicle registered AS 2233-16.

Appiah Stadium had claimed that his house at Ahenema-Kokoben New Site – a small town at the outskirt of Kumasi – was attacked on December 10, at about 12:30 am by some unknown men he suspected to be elements of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, the assailants had threatened to kill him before setting the vehicle ablaze at the time his wife and children were with him.

But the CTI group has cast doubt over the genuineness of the incident which was captured in a video footage, arguing that the scenes appeared stage-managed so as to court public sympathy after he (Appiah Stadium) had sparked fury among a section of Ghanaians for subjecting President Akufo-Addo to vilification and taunting in his (Appiah’s) recent outbursts.

Ms. Mirekua-Akwaa, in an interview with Top Radio, said the CTI’s critical analysis of the video footage released by the NDC serial caller pointed to nothing but cleverly deceptive chorography that was staged by Appiah Stadium.

According to her, this was carefully done by the one-time watchman of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, to throw dust into the eyes of the public and also win the heart of his paymasters to dole out more cash yp him.

She indicated that “Appiah Stadium was clutching on his last straw to shoot himself into fame in order to gain more of his filthy lucre,” and that the CTI had come to expose him.

This did not go down well with the NDC man when he was called by the host of the radio programme to respond to the allegation of faking his alleged arson attack.

Before the host could say anything, Appiah had spewed vituperation on his accuser, invoking the spirit of the Ashanti river deity, Antoa Nyamaa, to strike the lady dead for making what he considered to be outlandish allegation against him.

For Appiah Stadium, the accusation by the CTI member was completely a malicious slandering that required the intervention of Antoa to administer justice.
