An Accra magistrate court has issued a warrant for the immediate arrest of a 33-year-old woman for allegedly forging property documents and using it as guarantee in a business transaction.
Ernestina Abena Otiwaa, who is said to be fair in complexion and about 5.4 feet tall, also allegedly forged the passport of the complainant for the said business deal with an oil company.
According to the warrant of arrest with No. 40/20 issued by Richard Delali Anku of the Madina District Magistrate Court, in September 2020 the suspect posing as the complainant, Ekua Awonana Ghartey, prepared documents covering house number H/No 10 Egleston Street Airport Residential area, and presented them to an oil company as a guarantee for a transaction.
The warrant indicated that the said documents were presented to the Lands Commission for transfer into the name of the said oil company, adding, “The officials of the Lands Commission became suspicious of the documents and informed the complainant about the development.”
According to the warrant, the Ghanaian passport and all other documents presented by the suspect to the Lands Commission were forged and since the police started their investigation, the suspect has gone into hiding and her whereabouts is unknown.
“She is believed to be hiding in areas including Nkrumah Circle, Abeka Lapaz, Kokomlemle Madina and Mallam. Anybody with information on her whereabouts can report to the Airport Police Station or call them on 024 489 4175, 0508011180 or 18555 – MTN and Vodafone users, or report to the nearest police station,” the warrant said.
