Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has inaugurated some projects executed by the West Akim Municipal Assembly in various communities in the area.
According to him, the projects are in fulfillment of government’s promise to promote economic activities, education and health, especially in rural areas of the country.
The projects included CHPS compound, mechanized borehole at Pabi and 76-Unit lockable stores at Asamankese.
The project were financed by the Government of Ghana through District Assembly Common Fund and Urban Development Grant, a World Bank facility respectively.
The Regional Minister, in his address, said the community must cultivate good maintenance culture to help sustain the projects.
He said the lockable stores would help boost economic activities and reduce unemployment in the municipality which is a step in the right direction.
The MCE of West Akim, Seth Oduro Boadu, gave assurance that he would supervise the implementation of programmes and projects that would help in the development of the municipality and its environs.
“The projects, we believe, will go a long way to affect the lives of our citizenry positively,” he added.
The MCE also used the occasion to present items to the PWDs in the area and commended the Disability Fund Management Committee for their efforts.
He also presented a 4×4 pickup and 11 motorbikes to agricultural staff purchased by Government under Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana (MAG) programme funded by Canadian Government.
He called on the workers of MOFA to support the implementation of government’s policies, such as Planting for Food and job (PFJ) and Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) and work diligently to ensure their successful implementation.
The traditional authorities expressed their profound gratitude to the Minister and MCE for the beautiful edifice and promised to support any project that would help promote the development of the municipality.
