NDC MP Aspirant Dies Suddenly

Emmanuel Max-Voy

PARLIAMENTARY ASPIRANT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashaiman Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Emmanuel Max-Voy, has been reported dead a few days after filing his nomination forms to contest the party’s forthcoming parliamentary primaries slated for August 24.

The main competitor of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman, Henry Ernest Norgbey, passed on Sunday dawn at the Ridge Hospital in Accra after a short illness.

He left behind a wife and four children.

His death comes as a surprise to many NDC members especially those who picked the party nomination forms for the educationist, popularly called Martin Luther, to contest Mr. Norgbey.

Confirming the unfortunate death, Nathaniel Kofi Fiador, family spokesman, said in a statement yesterday that “the Voryee, Norgbodzi and allied families regret to announce with shock the demise of Mr. Emmanuel Max-Voy. The sudden death occurred at the Ridge Hospital on Sunday 4th August 2019 after a short illness.”

“The family wishes to state that Mr Emmanuel Max-Voy did not die through kidney failure as painted by certain individuals and some media houses,” it added.

Emmanuel Max-Voy was an aspiring parliamentary candidate of the NDC in the Ashaiman Constituency and a member of the Finance Committee of the party in the Greater Accra Region.

He is the founder and CEO of Martin Luther King Jr Co. Ltd, including a school located at Lebanon, Ashaiman.

Meanwhile, a book of condolences will be opened to the general public at Martin Luther King Jr. School, Lebanon branch and New Happy Home Academy, Ashaiman New-Town, from Tuesday, 6th August to Sunday 10th August 2019.

Already, the sudden death of the aspirant who lost the 2015 contest to the incumbent MP is causing uneasy calm among NDC supporters in the constituency.

His supporters have started making wild claims that their candidate has been ‘eliminated’ by their opponents and they are basing their arguments on the fact that they said their opponents were always expressing confidence that they would go into the contest unopposed.
