Atinka TV’s AkosuaAgyeiwaa, popularly known as AkosuaAgyeiwaa High Tension, who is the founder of the High Tension Foundation, has donated food and non-food items to the Weija Leprosarium.
The items donated included boxes of soft drinks, instant foods, packs of bottled and sachet water, detergent, adult diapers amongst others.
This gesture was in commemoration of the International Day of Older Persons, which is observed on October 1.
The International Day of Older Persons is an occasion to highlight the important contributions of older people in society, and appreciate their contributions as well as the issues and challenges of ageing in today’s world.
This year’s United Nations International Day of the Older Persons (UNIDOP) celebration themed “Ageing with dignity: The importance of strengthening the care and support system of older persons worldwide”, marked the 34th commemoration.
As a philanthropist who has the aged at heart, AkosuaAgyeiwaa High Tension, who is also the host of Afisem on Atinka 104.7, decided to embark on the exercise to connect with the aged and put smiles on their faces.
She was of the belief that one does not need all the money in the world to make an impact on people’s lives.
According to her, one can give any other thing including time, love, affection or even a smile to make someone feel loved.
She, therefore, encouraged people to give whatever they can to extend love to the less privileged, especially the aged.
“Money is not the only commodity that is fun to give. We can give time, we can give our expertise, we can give our love, or simply give a smile. What does that cost? The point is, none of us can ever run out of something worthwhile to give,” she stated.
The Weija inmates expressed excitement and gratitude to AkosuaAgyeiwaa High Tension for the kind gesture.
