Hassan Ayariga
After barely 24 hours of cross-fire with some executives of the All People’s Congress (APC), the flag bearer, Hassan Ayariga, has thrown his weight behind the presidential aspirant of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.
Making the statement of endorsement at a press conference in Accra yesterday, Mr Hassan Ayariga said he was very proud to declare the party’s support for President Mahama.
He accordingly urged supporters of the APC to join in the campaign of the NDC and vote massively for the president in the December 7 general election.
Hassan Ayariga further mentioned that APC’s endorsement of President John Mahama would give him (Mahama) a ‘one-touch’ victory with 54%, to retain his presidency.
He further announced that the party would begin its national and regional campaign tour tomorrow, November 29, 2016.
He indicated that the APC has a total membership of 585 people who would be defecting to the NDC.
A section of the top executives of the party, comprising the General Secretary and Razak Kojo Poku, the running mate of the flag bearer, have held a press conference in Accra to declare their support for Nana Akufo-Addo, standard bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ahead of Mr Ayariga’s press conference.
The APC was disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) following its reported inability to properly fill the nomination forms.
