Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adams, MCE for the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the newly created Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adams, on Thursday, August 30, held an open discussion with her municipal assembly members and residents on her flagship project dubbed ‘The Medium Term Development Plan, 2018 – 2021’.
The meeting, which was held at the conference hall of the St. Kizito Catholic Church at Nima in Accra, also aimed to, among others, seek the thoughts and contributions of members of the municipality on the many challenges that confront them as well to put in place measures and strategies that would ensure sustainable developments for the municipality in the near future.
In her address, the MCE lauded the Akufo-Addo-led administration for the trust reposed in her by nominating her into her current office.
She said a planning taskforce constituted by the assembly as part of the development planning processes has undertaken extensive community consultations to seek inputs from the citizens with regard to their key development challenges and aspirations.
“The purpose is to create community ownership and support for the implementation of the plan,” Hajia Salma added.
She disclosed that the draft vision of the municipal assembly is to ‘‘become the most transformed municipality in the country with excellent service delivery” and, thus, believes the discussion would propel the transformation agenda of the municipality.
The MCE also highlighted some key areas of development her leadership would be undertaking, which include the decongestion of the Nima Market, improvement of environmental sanitation situations and the establishment of a community day senior high school.
Other projects are the construction of a modern sports complex and the creation of job opportunities for all.
She also urged assembly members to come together to support these projects since they are for the benefit of all.
The meeting had in attendance a considerable number of participants from the various towns that make up the municipality, among which were community Muslim chiefs, constituency executives and traders from the Nima market.
Stakeholders such as representatives from the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Ghana Police Service (GPS) were also at the meeting.
