Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu
Hellas Verona coach Ivan Juri has heaped praises on Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu after his display in their 2-1 victory over Cagliari on Saturday.
The Ghanaian international on loan from Udinese has been through a challenging period, missing a huge chunk of action during the 2018-19 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury before having a pulmonary embolism at the start of the current campaign.
In March this year, his sister was shot and killed at Berekum. However, the 29-year-old midfielder seems to have overcome all his misfortunes after playing a starring role in his sides’ home win over the weekend.
Speaking to reporters after the match, a delighted Coach Juri singled out the former Black Stars midfielder for praise, hailing his courage and professionalism.
“I wanted to play more with the ball to feet and the midfielders pushing up, like Emmanuel Badu and Sofyan Amrabat, so Zaccagni was more suitable for that role.”
“These lads enjoy spending time together, playing football and training, so I didn’t have problems getting them working again. The only issues we had after the lockdown was in terms of fitness and injuries.
“I want to single out Badu because he really has been through everything over the last year. He was in the hospital, he lost his sister, he has been through so many things recently, but he was an absolute professional.”
