Emmanuel Agyemang Badu
Hellas Verona midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is proud of his contribution to the national teams (Black Stars/Black Satellites).
The strong midfielder has not featured for the Black Stars for some time but insists he is not perturbed taking into account his invaluable contribution to the national cause.
Badu, Verona loanee, who has resumed training after a three-month break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said what remains a priority now is more playing time for his Serie A side.
To the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner, should an invitation be extended to him, he will not turn it down.
He added that if he is not considered in future, he remains satisfied for his national teams’ achievements.
“I need to concentrate on playing games now due to my long spell out. It’s everyone’s dream to represent their country. But to be frank, I have played for the Black Stars for close to 10 years. I have won both the U-20 AFCON and World Cup. I have played five AFCONs, twice as a finalist and three times as a semi-finalist and also played at the FIFA World Cup,” the 30-year-old told Citi Sports.
He added, “I’ve played 86 times for my country and scored 11 goals, one of which was nominated for the Puskas Award. So if I don’t get a call up to the national team again, I’m still very proud of myself.”
The former Asante Kotoko man will be hoping to help his side escape relegation when the Italian League resumes this weekend.
