Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye
Nigerian authorities are on the hunt for a former beauty queen, Aderinoye Queen Christmas, also known as Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, for alleged drug trafficking.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared her wanted after a raid on her residence in Lagos last week, during which she reportedly evaded arrest.
According to the NDLEA statement, the agency conducted the raid based on ‘credible’ intelligence pointing to Aderinoye’s involvement in illicit substances.
Items recovered from her residence included 606 grams of Canadian Loud, identified as a synthetic strain of cannabis, an electronic weighing scale, and significant quantities of drug packaging materials.
The 2015/2016 Miss Commonwealth Nigeria and founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation has yet to respond to the serious allegations. The NDLEA’s pursuit suggests a heightened focus on combating drug-related offences, especially involving public figures.
In addition to Aderinoye’s case, the agency also announced the arrest of another suspect at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The individual, returning from Brazil, was apprehended for ingesting 60 large wraps of cocaine.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to piece together the extent of Aderinoye’s alleged involvement in the illicit drug trade and the circumstances surrounding her escape during the raid.
This development raises questions about the responsibility of public figures and the impact of their actions on societal perceptions. Nigerians await further details on the ongoing investigation, and the potential legal consequences for the former beauty queen if apprehended.
