Ben Abdallah Appointed Zongo Dev. Coordinator

The former MP for Offinso South, Ben Abdallah Banda, has been appointed as the Coordinator for Zongo Development under the Office of the President.

His appointment follows government’s decision to scrap the Zongo Ministry and make it an agency directly under the Presidency.

An astute lawyer, he is noted for his hard work and commitment to service having served as the chairman of two major committees – the Constitutional Committee and the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee – in the Seventh Parliament.

He spearheaded the passage of many critical bills in the Fourth Republic.

In Kumasi last week, he was a guest at the grand finale of the 2021 Kumasi Inter-Zongo Sallah Gala at Aboabo in the Asawase Constituency.

The Coordinator, Ben Abdallah Banda, in an address at the activity reiterated President Akufo-Addo’s commitment towards Zongo development.

He told the youth and the various dignitaries present that both the President and the Vice President are committed to enhancing the living standards of Zongo residents across the country.

Continuing, he said, it is this commitment which informed the incorporation into the Presidency of the Zongo Development Fund.

He added that, as part of government’s effort to realise the wishes and aspirations of the people of Zongo, the government is constructing Astro Turfs in Zongo communities so as to unearth football talents that Zongo has been blessed with.

He further promised to make sure that the stalled Astro Turf project in Aboabo is completed, so that subsequent Sallah gala would be played on it.

He commended the organisers of the 24-year-old annual Sallah gala, and added that the activity helps to improve the local economy, brings about social cohesion, love and peace among the communities.

He finally admonished Zongo youth to be of good behaviour and to refrain from unlawful activities.

He donated jerseys, football and an undisclosed amount of money to the youth at the end of the event.
