CAGED! Kwaku Gyamfi
A 22-YEAR-old boy, Kwaku Gyamfi aka Sampane, has been hauled before an Obuasi circuit court to answer charges on robbery and unlawful possession of firearm following his arrest on the night of November 22, 2016 at Adansi-Asokwa in the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, who is a squatter at the Kokomba market in Accra, is accused of robbing at gunpoint a fuel attendant, Salomey Abeka and a security man, John Arthur, of Crown Petroleum Company located at Kojo Nkwanta in the Adansi North District of the region.
The Obuasi circuit court, presided over by Frank Rockson, remanded the accused person into custody, pending further investigation into the case.
Police prosecutor Inspect Albert Anani told the court that Kwaku Gyamfi on November 22, 2016 at about 7:00 pm, attacked and robbed the workers of Crown Petroleum Company with a locally made pistol while they were on duty.
According to the prosecutor, the accused person suddenly emerged at the fuel station and ordered Salomey Abeka and John Arthur to lie down after firing warning shots.
Inspector Anani said Kwaku Gyamfi then ordered Salomey to surrender her sales, which amounted to GH?860, and the victim obliged.
He narrated that Sampane also managed to dispossess John Arthur of his LG mobile phone valued GH?200 before he bolted through the bush amidst firing of gunshots.
Prosecution had it that the victims quickly relayed information about the incident to the police night patrol team which frantically searched for the accused, but could not locate him.
After combing through the bush without a trace of the whereabouts of Sampane, the police officers found him and arrested him on their way back to Adansi-Asokwa.
